A memorable night is in store on Nov. 7 for MMA and baseball fans alike at Momentum Bank Ballpark. 

“PFC 55: Diamond Series” will mark the promotion’s first event at a baseball diamond, with tickets already disappearing and a featherweight championship on the line.

“It’s going to be nuts, and it’s going to be a pretty big show,” said Peak FC President Jonny Ross. “The floor is already selling out. We have hardly any on-field tables left.”

Momentum Bank Ballpark has hosted everything from concerts to golf tournaments. Now, the venue is preparing for a very different kind of spectacle as they trade bats and baseballs for gloves, a cage, and a night of live MMA.

The Gameplan

While Peak FC has planned for a variety of fight locations in the past, the Midland RockHounds’ home stadium is a particularly unique opportunity.

“There are several of us here at Peak FC who really love baseball,” Ross said. “This is going to be exciting for all of us.”

Ross said he and his teams are working diligently to plan for a lively night of premium production and action-packed fights. After visiting the field and envisioning the setup, the team knew the ballpark was the perfect place for their upcoming event.

“It’s not your cookie-cutter production plan because we’re going to make it awesome,” he said. “The experience is going to be very memorable for the fans. The drones, the screens, the additional lighting, it’s going to be crazy.”

Not only is the team at Peak FC excited for the event as baseball fans, but they also express appreciation for the people and city of Midland, Texas.

“Midland is home to a lot of hard-working people that love entertainment and love fights,” Ross said. “I mean, who doesn’t love West Texas?”

The Bangers

Once Momentum Bank Ballpark was booked, the Peak FC team had to make the fights. Ross said he wanted the fight card to feel as special as the venue, with big names, exciting fighters, competitive matchups, and nothing but “absolute fireworks.”

“The card is super stacked, and we definitely wanted former UFC fighters on there,” he said. “We got names like Drako Rodriguez, and we got him fighting Brian Mitchell, so we’ve got a fun one for you.”

He said this headlining title fight was made to set the tone for the card. Mitchell has fought with a variety of regional MMA promotions and puts on explosive performances with an aggressive stand-up fighting style and an even combination of KO/TKO and decision wins. Drako Rodriguez is a UFC veteran and a tight, technical fighter with more submission wins than any other method, and an 8-4 professional record. Rodriguez is also from Eagle Pass, Texas, making it particularly fitting for him to fight on the West Texas card.

But it’s not just the headlining fighters that fans should be excited for. Ross said the whole card is full of stunning fighters, including middleweight Evan Stephens, bantamweight Bubba Gonzales, and featherweight Jacob Pais.

“It’s going to just be absolute fireworks through and through,” Ross said.

The Roadmap

Having presented its previous outdoor event, PFC 48 in Concho, Oklahoma, the Peak FC team was excited to put on another highlight-reel night under the stars.

“[PFC 52] was shockingly successful,” Ross said. “We were very excited for our first outdoor event, and we learned a lot, so we’re going to be even more prepared for PFC 55.”

Ross said he and the Peak FC team are thrilled about the interest in outdoor MMA events, particularly since the “UFC Freedom 250” event that took place on the White House lawn earlier this year. He said the event stirred more opportunities for regional MMA promotions to arrange their own unique outdoor events, leading to a wider variety of venue possibilities and unforgettable entertainment for fight fans.

“I feel like outdoor fighting is going to be a part of our identity in the future for sure,” Ross said. “We’re doing two more outdoor events in 2027, and we might even do more if there’s more interest.”

With the right venues, the right fighters, and the right crowds, events like “PFC 55: Diamond Series” can push the sport beyond traditional arenas and introduce new audiences to the riveting energy of live MMA. Unconventional spaces can become remarkable fight-night destinations, and Peak FC is thrilled for the opportunity to help pave the way.

Ross said: “I want people to remember this event mainly for how fun it is and for the big energy. It’s the fighters’ jobs to wow the fans with their fights, but it’s our job to wow the fans with the space and production that lights it all up.”
